Adem Ljajic: “I’d like to retire at Beşiktaş”

Beşiktaş’s Serbian international Adem Ljajic has stated that the Black Eagles have astounded him since he came to Turkey and added: “I would like to retire at Beşiktaş.”

Speaking at the national team camp, Ljajic admitted that they have started the season badly as a team, and stated that he was not satisfied with his individual performance or the team in general.

Yearning that the Aytemiz Alanyaspor game where they won 2-0 would be a turning point for them, Ljajic said: “I’m aware that I have performed weakly in the first few games and I’ll take the blame for it. I need to do better, and I know I can. I just need to have faith in myself.”

“I have a strong faith in my team that we will get rid of this situation as fast as possible.”

The 28-year old attacking midfielder also remarked that the Turkish Super Lig is more important than the UEFA Europa League for them, saying: “Even though we’ve kicked-off the league in a pretty bad fashion, we’re not that far away from the top. Our goal is to win the title but Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor are needed to be shown respect as well.

Talented midfielder also commented on their chance in the Europa League, saying that it’s not over for them yet and they would earn the chance to qualify if they can beat Braga.

Answering a question about whether he would prefer to retire at Beşiktaş or not, Ljajic responded: “Why not? Istanbul is a great city. Beşiktaş are a club that inspired me at the first moment I’ve seen them, they’re a big club and they keep getting bigger and bigger with their culture and tradition.”

“Vida has been here for longer than I have. He was always there to help me.”

Ljajic expressed his love for Fiorentina as well, stating that the Italian outfit have a special meaning to him: “Fiorentina were the first team I played for abroad. I’ve spent some great years there. I pack a lot of great memories. If I had to leave Beşiktaş one day, I’d love to go back to Fiorentina for sure.”
