Burak Yılmaz: “We will enjoy Euro 2020”

Turkey drew 1-1 with World Cup holders France yesterday and are currently top of their group with 19 points. Turkey striker Burak Yılmaz answered the questions from the press after the game in Stade de France. Yılmaz said: “We felt immense pressure when we were coming out on the pitch tonight. With our country in a critical situation, all we can do is focus on football to drift away and be joyful. We wanted to make our people happy. We may have lost or won, but we played the game with that mindset.”

Yılmaz also commented on the precious bunch of prospects Turkey have, adding: “The players, the board, our chairman and our minister of sports are supporting us a lot. I’m sure that Turkey deserves to be in the Euros, and we are proud to be a member of this nation.”

The international break is over for Turkey and Yılmaz will return to action for Beşiktaş this weekend, in the game against Ankaragücü.
