The Larin Dilemma

In their search for a second striker behind Burak Yılmaz, Besiktas have signed two attackers this transfer window. But neither Tyler Boyd nor Abdoulay Diaby were able to contribute in the way that was needed during the time when Yılmaz was out with an injury.

Cyle Larin, who was signed during the 2017-18 winter transfer window, has performed extraordinarily during his time at Zulte Waregem with five goals and six assists in eleven games – and now Besiktas are regretting their decision to loan him out. Having spoken to the Belgian press, Larin said: “We’ll do our best to achieve our goals this season. I like playing against good teams, and we have to keep working hard. I’m happy to be here playing in Belgium.”

According to the agreement between the two clubs, Besiktas are covering €1m of Larin’s total wage of €1.6m. The 21-year old Canadian international also has a €2.5m buyout clause on his loan contract.
