One of the reported transfer targets for Beşiktaş in their search for a striker, Stefano Okaka has told the press that he changed his mind on the last day of the transfer window. Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian striker said: “Beşiktaş had offered me a great deal. I was about to end up in Turkey if Udinese didn’t submit a bid for me on the last day. They were really interested in me and I really liked their approach. I’d like to become an icon here.”
Despite being on the shortlist of the Black Eagles with a bid in hand, the 30-year old Okaka signed for Udinese for a fee of €5m on deadline day.
