Points shared between Galatasaray and Besiktas in the Istanbul Derby
Playing in an empty stadium, Galatasaray drew with Besiktas 0-0 behind closed doors to snap the Eagles’ two-game winning streak on Matchday 26 of the Super Lig.
With this game, Galatasaray extended their unbeaten series to 10 matches as the Lions’ last league defeat was against Goztepe with a 2-1 score in Izmir on matchday 16.
N’Koudou and Yilmaz’s inability to finish in the final third cost Besiktas, as the Black Eagles were aiming to get the 3 points and come closer to the top spot in a week where all the title contenders dropped points. Tyler Boyd and Loris Karius put in impressive performances and were the stand-out players of the game for the Siyah-Beyazlilar.
Having 50 points, Galatasaray remained in the third spot and Besiktas with 44 points in the fifth place of table. Besiktas will face Antalyaspor next week at home, if the league does not get suspended due to amid coronavirus fears.
